Ève Cadieux

Ève Cadieux has developed a photographic process that proactively engages with viewers, settings, and context to create a wide-ranging body of work. A growing fascination with found objects and spaces as repositories of memory marks her work, and writing remains central in her installations and artist’s books.

Ève Cadieux’s new exhibition collects images of flea markets, reflecting her abiding fascination with objects gleaned over time, inevitable obsolescence, and art-historical references. Over years, the artist travelled to multiple European countries to produce still lifes of the objects informally gathered for sale; after capturing these tableaux, her reworked images reconsider and renew the idea of these ephemeral yet timeless commercial spaces where objects and collections become the silent bearers of intimate and collective stories.
